Recently I’ve started to have the desire to go on short city breaks, normally I’m the type of tourist who enjoys lying on a beach or by the pool for a week. However, after living in New York City last September, I gained a new desire to explore and discover other cities.
We flew to Amsterdam with Flybe as it was a decently price flight when we booked, for three nights we didn’t really need much besides some hand luggage each. We also decided to stay in an Air BnB as it was cheaper than the hotels available, I would definitely recommend checking Air BnB if you’re looking for a cheap city break in Amsterdam!
The trip was a great opportunity for me to test out my recently purchased Sony 50mm lens, since I bought a A6300 mirrorless camera earlier this year. I made a short Vlog style video whilst I was in Amsterdam and I’m pleased to say that the lens was a good purchase (the Sony lens is cheaper than the Sigma lenses I have on my list).
Featured in the video is some of the places we visited during our trip and some of our experiences, including Nemo (Science Museum) and Tassenmuseum (Museum of Bags and Purses). We also went on a boat tour and rented bikes for the duration of our stay. I would recommend visiting the Flower Market to see a variety of wonderfully bright tulips, the market was not as large as I was expecting but was definitely worth a visit.
Whilst we were there I created a short video on my phone and edited it using the newly released Filmm app that allows you to add filters to videos. Using iMovie for iPhone to edit the video I then posted it to my Instagram feed and used it as an entry for the Zoella X Filmm competition.
I’m thrilled to say that my Amsterdam Filmm video was selected as the winner of the competition, which I feel is a great achievement and has given me more faith in the use of mobile video work. You can check out more of my travel content on my Instagram!
