In these uncertain times many of us are spending the majority of our time at home. If you’re self-isolating, working from home or simply on a day off you may be looking for some inspiring reads to pass the time.
Below are some of the books I’ve read recently that I believe will get you through quarantine, wherever you are in the world.
They’re available to purchase as paper copies, kindle editions and on Audible, all of these authors also have podcasts, web shows and courses that you can listen to and watch whilst at home.
Here’s a list of my top 4 books to inspire you in 2020:
The Multi-Hyphen Method - Emma Gannon
I first heard about Emma’s book through the Creative Rebels podcast where she discussed side hustles, social media and networking connections. Her book The Multi-Hyphen Method, aims to guide those of us with creative side hustles by offering advice on flexible working, burnouts, relationships with money and so much more.
If you’re looking for some guidance on building your side hustle, whether you want to turn it into a full time role or not, I would recommend Emma’s book and her podcast Ctrl, Alt, Delete.

The Subtle Art Of Not Giving A F*ck - Mark Manson
Mark Manson’s site lists him as an author, thinker and life enthusiast. The Subtle Art Of Not Giving A F*ck is a self-help book for people who hate self-help books, it offers advice on engaging with problems rather than avoiding them and learning to accept that not everyday is filled with sunshine and rainbows.
The book discusses how we get stuck in our own feedback loops, defining values and overcoming rejection. It’s useful for creatives, freelancers and anyone who may feel like they’re stuck in a rut. It’s full of humour, advice and anecdotes that’ll stick with you long after you turn the final page.
You can pick up a copy of The Subtle Art Of Not Giving A F*ck online on Amazon or listen to it on Audible.
There’s always time to pick up new skills and change habits, there’s now never been a better time to pick up one of these books and start planning out the rest of your 2020.
If you’re looking for creatives to work with, I’m a videographer, photographer and digital designer working with small businesses, influencers and musicians to create engaging digital content. You can find out more and get in touch via the ‘book’ page.
